For those of you new to the REIEXCHANGE, my name is James E. Spencer, Jr., and
I am the inventor of the Opportunity Creator system.
I've been a nut for automation since I was a small child, and the story of how I ended up applying my passion to real estate is an unusual, but interesting story.
I fine-tuned my analytical and design skills while getting my
electrical engineering degree at Brown University.
After college I went on to work at the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as a
robotics engineer and manager.
I got into real estate investing out of
necessity after raising $7.1 million in venture capital and
developing state-of-the-art automation technology for
company's like Ford, BMW, Nike and others.

At the time, my dreams of "retiring young
and rich" went up in smoke when the multi-million dollar
High-Tech start-up I created was sold by the venture
capitalists to a foreign competitor shortly after 9-11.
Back then, the popular investing trend was
"Short Sales." And while the latest fads and trends
impressed me... they didn't always hold up under my careful
study.
My analytical skills would become
extremely useful when combined with my partner, Jesse
Tacoronte's talents (lower right).
Jesse is an "idea man." He took a
small construction company and turned it into one of the largest
"at home" service contractors from Home Depot... the company
grew to over 700 employees in 6 states in less than three years.
Working around the schedule of hurricanes from
the Atlantic wore Jesse down. And he, too, was ready for a
change in pace.
We lived nearby. Our kids played together. And
we were both interested in real estate investing. So a
partnership seemed like an easy decision and we got started...
Three (3) days after we started putting our
marketing plan in to place, the phones started ringing. (How
many real estate investors can say that?)
Within weeks our first "Subject-To" deal
closed, we saw $30,000.00 in cash profit... and we've never
looked back.
Each step along the way was documented... we
kept meticulous records of what worked and what didn't, so
anyone can look back at our early days and duplicate our
success.
